Nintendo Wii remains a myth

Sunday, December 17th, 2006

Today I tried nearly every shop available to me in search for a Nintendo Wii. And I’ve come to the conclusion100px-wi that they don’t actually exist. They’re merely a myth.

It seems Nintendo greatly under estimated the success of thier product, possibly after the failure of the Gamecube, which came to a miserable death under the fearsome reign of the legendary Playstation 2. But in contrast, the Wii has become a huge success, and shops can’t satisfy the floods of customers with their low stock levels, Nintendo, what have you done?!

The Wii is unique. The Wii will be huge. Already it’s cheaper than the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3, and there’s stacks of quirky games available for it. Nintendo could revisit the status they enjoyed back in the day, with the unforgettable NES and SNES systems, should they wake up and meet the customer’s demands! Face it, the Xbox 360 is older now, and asides from HD graphics it’s no different to the original Xbox, really. The Playstation 3 is trying far too hard to incorporate the latest technology, and as a result only people willing to sell their car will get their hands on it.

Basically unless you want to spend alot on the latest game console the Wii is the best choice. When the Wii 2 arrives and the Playstation 3 has dropped in price we may see some competition, and Wii will win again, having assessed the competitor. Xbox 360 is behind the times, Playstation 3 is ahead of the times and Wii is just perfect. Buy it.

Dvorak, the typing alternative

Monday, October 23rd, 2006

Everyone’s heard of the QWERTY keyboard layout, it’s on every keyboard and typewriter, and is the default setting for all operating systems.keys

QWERTY originated when the first typewriter was developed, which typed letters from below. The original layout read alphabetically “ABCDEF” were the first letters. However, the first typewriter had problems. Each time you pressed a key, the arm flew upward (remember, typing from below) and made the ink impression on the bottom of the sheet. Then, gravity pulled the arm down, and you had to wait for it to come down before you could type the next key. (more…)

“Small Number” of iPod Videos have Windows Virus!

Thursday, October 19th, 2006

I couldn’t help laughing when I saw this one! http://www.apple.com/support/windowsvirus/

One of those “virus” things Windows users get were shipped with a few of the new iPods. Hey maybe mine has one, for all I care, it can have a thousand, Linux protects me from that.  Haha, had to get that dig in there. ;)

Apple:
“We recently discovered that a small number - less than 1% - of the Video iPods available for purchase after September 12, 2006, left our contract manufacturer carrying the Windows RavMonE.exe virus. This known virus affects only Windows computers, and up to date anti-virus software which is included with most Windows computers should detect and remove it. So far we have seen less than 25 reports concerning this problem. The iPod nano, iPod shuffle and Mac OS X are not affected, and all Video iPods now shipping are virus free. As you might imagine, we are upset at Windows for not being more hardy against such viruses, and even more upset with ourselves for not catching it.”

That last bit is great, laughed some more reading that… Although, one little thing. I’m assuming all the computers behind iPod manufactuering are Mac based, right? How did a WinVirus manage to sneak it’s way through and onto some iPods? Do Apple use Windows behind the scenes? :?

Something fun to ponder there, whilst you’re checking for viruses! :D
